Abstract/Summary:
In the continuing quest for improved performance due to less weight, more strength and lower cast, composite material plays a major role. Composite materials due to their properties, have found many applications in aerospace, automotive, marine structures, recreational industry and lightweight armor. In practical applications, these composite materials are subjected to various loads. As these composite materials are pushed toward higher levels of performance it becomes necessary to understand the behavior of materials under different loading conditions. In this present study flexure properties are studied for composites and variation of flexural properties with nano enhancement is focused. Both 3-point bending and 4-point bending are used to study flexural properties. AE data is collected along with mechanical data and relation between the two is established. Ultrasonic inspection, Thermal wave imaging, Microscopy techniques are used to study subsurface and surface damages. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)...
