Abstract/Summary:
The performance of BA-PW 25, a visible light responsive photocatalyst claimed by Ecodevice Corporation, Japan, is investigated for photocatalytic oxidation of butyraldehyde in air under fluorescent light irradiation. Its performance is compared with UV light irradiating photo catalysts like P 25 and LUAG2 under fluorescent light conditions. Also, the effect, of doping FEO materials like LiNbO3 and humidity conditions, on pollutant conversion was studied.;It was observed that increasing space-time or decreasing inlet pollutant concentration has a positive effect for conversion enhancement. Doping of FEO materials like LiNbO3 or humidity conditions also enhances the conversion. However, an optimum was observed in both cases.;The comparison of performance of different catalyst for photo catalytic oxidation of butyraldehyde in air under fluorescent light irradiation showed that LUAG2 has the highest activity followed by P 25 and BA-PW 25. BA-PW 25 showed the lowest activity. This experiment reveals that LUAG2 and P 25 make a good use of UV portion of fluorescent light while BA-PW 25 responds to both UV/visible light with a low activity.
