In this research, Arena simulation-based model is being developed and experimented to optimize the route for collecting the garbage in a residential area. Various methods for improving the expenses of garbage pick-up have already been illustrated by the researchers. A study area for the city of Kingsville is being considered to understand the vehicles' processing and travel time at each node. Firstly, this study focuses on collecting the garbage of 260 occupied houses. Fifteen cases were developed and experimented on Arena simulation and then the results were observed. The results indicate that about 50 min of the total time may require for the vehicle to pick-up 260 houses. Secondly, this study focuses on formulation of Linear Programming model for the same study area to compare the results that were obtained by Arena simulation. Finally, this study focuses on cost analysis, when the vehicle is subjected to one-time or two-time pick-up. The cost analysis result shows that, one-time pick-up is about 45.5% less cost required than two-time pick-up per week.
