Abstract/Summary:
This paper examines whom individuals hold responsible for environmental protection, controlling for environmental civic engagement and demographic measures. Using the General Social Survey 2010, I test the hypotheses whether political ideology affects beliefs about personal responsibility and government responsibility on environmental protection. Results of this study find political ideology to be the most significant predictor of environmental responsibility, while race and education were also found to be significant predictors. Environmental civic engagement did not necessarily predict individual environmental responsibility.
