Abstract/Summary:
Graphitic mesoporous carbons were synthesized following a catalysis strategy. Transition metal (Fe, Co, Ni) nanoparticles were employed as a catalyst to induce a graphitic structure of mesoporous carbon. Two new types of graphitic mesoporous carbon materials were developed in this thesis.;Another graphitic mesoporous carbon material was prepared starting from the impregnation of a mixture of a catalyst precursor and the carbon source (sucrose) into the channels of SBA-15 before carbonization and graphitization.;Composites of MoO2/graphitic mesoporous carbon were prepared by an impregnation method. (Abstract shortened by UMI.).;Ordered mesoporous carbon materials with a highly graphitic structure have been synthesized by directly employing a tri-block copolymer as a structure directing agent and carbon source. Poly(ethylene oxide)20-poly(propylene oxide)70-poly(ethylene oxide)20 (EO20PPO 70EO20), or "P123", was cross-linked in the channels of mesoporous silicate once the SBA-15 was formed, and then carbonized and further graphitized under the catalysis.
