Abstract/Summary:
During summers of 2001--2002, Instrumented Sharp Cone Tests (ISCT) have been carried out in a hard clay deposit at Mascouche in order to carry out research and development (R&D) of the device together with a deep sounding of the experimental site.; The instrumented sharp cone is a recently developed in-situ apparatus which can perform continuously soil testing in a pre-bored hole as a usual pressuremeter test. The present study describes the use of two new versions of this probe that appears to be a low-angle truncated cone. The first one with two degrees taper, has on its lateral surface four total pressure transducers and a pore pressure transducer to which five distinct elevation and radius levels can be associated. The second one, which has two successive taper angles of one and two degrees, possesses five total pressure transducers equally disposed on its lateral surface. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)...
