Abstract/Summary:
Over the last decade Close Range Photogrammetry (CRP) and in recent years, increasingly, Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) have been used to address the issue of rapid acquisition of large volumes of 3-D data of industrial installations. Both CRP and TLS have positive and negative aspects but when used together, they complement one another and form a powerful tool for the creation of complete physical plant databases.; This thesis presents a method for the integration of industrial laser and photogrammetric datasets. An assessment of the integration is made through comparisons against high precision survey data. The quality of the method is evaluated by comparing the results of the integration with these obtained with an established method. The thesis also presents the results from an investigation of whether the quality of the integration can be improved by using merged 3-D models of the observed objects in the integration process.
