This action research study was conceived in partnership with Canadian Business for Social Responsibility (CBSR) and responded to the following question: How can CBSR develop a sustainable leadership practice within the organization that aligns with the principles and values of corporate social responsibility (CSR)? The research was gathered via a focus group and by employing a dialogue triad methodology with self-selected staff and board members from CBSR. The literature and data supported the following recommendations: Create increased opportunities for collaboration, initiative, and integrated leadership through a horizontal leadership team; participate in an integrated strategy to enhance knowledge and skills related to change; participate in core competency building; create a human resources strategy (HRS); develop enhanced communication systems and practices; and participate in team building to reconnect to mission and vision.
