L'automobile comme prolongement de la maison

This research aims to observe the car interior in order to understand how its space is organized and how this can lead to consider the car as a domestic space, meant as an extension of the house. By observing the car in this way, this paper also tries to verify if different types of space organizations depend on different profiles of car owners. With this intention, all spaces are analyzed. The cockpit, the trunk and the glove compartment, and all objects occupying these spaces are classified according to their use. The research is based on interviews with people living in urban, suburban and rural areas from many regions in the province of Quebec.
