Abstract/Summary:
Engineering companies working in the petroleum industry should implement a quality management system to improve project execution and delivery in terms of scope, schedule, safety, and quality. The petroleum industry faces an ever-expanding array of project requirements for design; safety and environment codes; standards, and specifications. These requirements include a growing number of state and federal laws and regulations that, if not implemented, can leave senior management subject to heavy fines or, in the worst cases, to incarceration.;The most challenging part of implementing a quality management system is knowing which is the right system to implement; implementing the wrong system can be a costly and counterproductive mistake. This research compares three common quality management systems to determine which one is the optimum choice for engineering companies working in the petroleum industry.
