| This thesis is an investigation of the use of a ubiquitous Grid computing platform to help mobile devices run intelligent applications. This task is achieved by using a three-tiered distributed system based on a mobile device, proxy server, and the Grid platform. Applications developed for mobile devices are limited to the capabilities of the hardware delivered with the device and often exceed what is available on current mobile devices. The thesis demonstrates how using a multi system Grid configuration is more efficient than a client server configuration. Adding more machines to the Grid makes the process more efficient. The research in this thesis examines the use of high performance computing to power intelligent applications on mobile devices. |
