The construction of a watermarking scheme which is resilient to affine transformations is a very challenging problem. In this thesis, a new watermarking process is proposed. We present two new watermarking schemes in which the watermarking is carried out in the spatial domain using robust feature points to aid in its embedding and extraction. We start by reviewing the general concepts of Watermarking, different attacks, especially geometric transformations, and the Feature Points. Following this survey material, we propose the new algorithms that uses the SIFT approach to feature detection together with some ideas from shape theory. These specific feature points are not only used to embed information, but also act as a geometrical reference. Our new methods are based on embedding multiple copies of watermarks in regions around robust feature points and using shape theory to remediate the effects of affine attacks. The resulting methods will be subjected to a suite of internationally accepted watermark attacks that will validate these new methods. |
