Extraction, integration, and analysis of software measurement and bug fix data from open source software projects

Open source software (OSS) projects are increasingly popular and are competing successfully with proprietary software systems. Studying and analyzing the evolution of the OSS systems can provide interesting insights into the design and development process of such systems that are built by physically distributed developers. In this research, source code data and bug tracking data of KOffice OSS products, extracted from the online version control system and bug tracking system respectively, are integrated and processed. Basic descriptive statistical analysis on the integrated data set has been performed and some interesting insights into the development and evolution of KOffice OSS products have been discovered.
