A Game Called the Future

This novella is centered on a woman named Darla who tells a stranger in a bar, for no reason at all and not knowing that she would eventually fall in love and marry him, that her family is dead. The problem is that Darla's parents aren't dead, just estranged. Her mother, a 500 pound Vicodin addict, her sister, who is somewhat unpleasant, and her brother, once Darla's closest companion, all live in South Dakota where they haven't heard from Darla in ten years. The lie follows her into her marriage. Things become tense for Darla when her brother tracks her down and shows up for an unexpected visit. Darla will have to struggle to conceal the identity of her brother in order to cover up the lie she told her husband.
