Abstract/Summary:
This thesis analyzes the development contributions of Faith-Based Organizations and their connections (if any) to religiously-based terrorist organizations. In association with the 'War on Terror', a Western policy of non-negotiation is being aggressively used to quell the use of terrorism, and yet many of the targeted groups, mainly Islamic, are gaining supporters rather than losing them. In being associated with substantial, high quality faith-based social networks, these terrorist organizations have not only established themselves within their local community, but have been able to convert the aforementioned support into electoral support. This thesis, through the use of a FBO Spectrum, therefore argues that while the terrorist actions should not be overlooked or excused, the undifferentiated policy on non-negotiation is inapt and should be revisited.
