Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this project is to create a helpful tool for all quality professionals who decide to implement a quality management system (QMS) based on the ISO 9001:2000 international standard. The Problem Elimination Checklist, containing important questions about the company's environment before the implementation, would help prevent any potential problems that frequently occur during the implementation process. This study is based on the research conducted on eight Polish organizations that implemented a QMS based on ISO 9001:2000 requirements in recent years. Organizations' experiences described by quality managers were analyzed and problems of selected organizations were discussed. The most important part of this study is the description of problems that organizations encountered on their way to certification of ISO 9001:2000. Recommendations and corrective actions, as well as the checklist, should be an important source of information for all quality professionals involved in the implementation process.
