Abstract/Summary:
What impact, if any, does democratization have on regime stability in the Middle East? This question has implications for American foreign policy in the Middle East, and the role that democratization plays in that policy. In this thesis, I argue that Arab authoritarian regimes used controlled democratization during the Arab Spring to maintain their regime stability.
