| This study examines the representation of social actors in the front-page articles of the French newspaper Le Monde, during the first month of the Parisian riots in 2005. Through the analytical framework of Critical Discourse Analysis this study reveals how the social actors, namely the immigrant youth, the police and Nicolas Sarkozy, are represented differently. This methodology will reveal how the media uses language to forward a particular perception of the actors in question and at a critical time period leading up to Nicolas Sarkozy's presidential election.;Keywords.
