This study replicated and extended previous research of the relationships between Deese-Roediger-McDermott (DRM) false memory, "crashing memories" (CM), and need for cognition (NFC). This was done through presentation of the DRM paradigm and two questionnaires (NFC and CM). Crashing memories are false memories made during an emotionally charged event. NFC is a person's tendency to engage in and enjoy thinking. While CM and DRM false memory were positively correlated (r = .296, p = .046), neither were significantly related to NFC.
