Abstract/Summary:
This ethnographic research resulted in the development of an instructional non-intrusive documentary film of the Catholic Mass. This documentary film is an instrument developed with an instructional approach to the integration of faith and learning. It contains commentary and explanation by the celebrant priest Reverend Father Brian Rafferty to be used for educational purposes. The resulting Educational Video will benefit Catholics and non-Catholics to get a better understanding of the individual components of the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The priest's commentary explains the purpose and the history of the particular parts of the Mass. This documentary is important because it will deepen the understanding of an ancient ritual and give those who see it a fresh perspective and a renewed vigor in their participation in the central spiritual practice of the Catholic Church. The intended use of this video is for distribution to those individuals and groups who seek a deeper understanding of the Sacrifice of the Mass.
