Abstract/Summary:
Scientists have always searched for the ideal biomarker for prostate cancer. In the past, the detection and testing of prostate cancer have mainly depended on PAP. Currently, PSA is the diagnostic marker for the detection and testing of prostate cancer. The study will be using data obtained from the SEER program to analyze the prognosis ability for PAP and PSA.;Using survival analysis techniques and combining them with propensity scores, models are constructed to determine the association between PAP and PSA with survival time. In their respective univariate analysis, positive PAP and positive PSA are associated with survival time. However, in the multivariate analysis controlling for factors (such as age, size of tumor, race, marital status, and stage of disease), positive PAP, not done PAP, unknown PAP, borderline PSA, and not done PSA are associated with survival time. And in the combination of propensity score and survival analysis techniques, both markers were not found to be associated with survival time. Thus, it seems that PSA and PAP cannot be use as markers for the prognosis of prostate cancer.
