Abstract/Summary:
Research presented in this paper focuses on the need for green best practices to be implemented in the healthcare industry. This conclusion is drawn based on an analysis of supporting documents illustrating the necessity for and positive impact of "going green." There is much evidence to support the occurrence of global warming, including measured analysis of carbon footprints and greenhouse emissions. As the world enters a pivotal point of required change, the healthcare industry is close to crossing an important threshold wherein they recognize the negative impact their current practices have on the environment and the simple steps they can begin to take to make a sizable difference by implementing environmentally friendly techniques throughout facilities nationwide, as well as at the international level. Recommendations and outcomes for the healthcare industry to join the green movement are explored.
