A complete randomized block design - split plot arrangement with four repetitions was used to identify the best source and the appropriate level of calcium for increased the performance and quality of papaya (Carica papaya). The sources of Ca were the plots (CaCl2 and CaSO4) and the subplots the different levels of Ca (0, 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75% and 1.0%). Among the different parameters to studied we select the components of production, tissue samples were taken to determine the concentration of nutrients, we measured the pH, electrical conductivity and exchangeable cations (K, Ca, Mg) from soil and were tested for firmness, acidity and total soluble solids to fruit. There was no considerable difference between the application of calcium sources of papaya fruit and the control (0%) in any of the factors studied. Therefore it is necessary to perform further research on the action of calcium on tropical fruit, with that we will be able to make recommendations to farmers to improve the quality of fruit, specifically papaya.
