Abstract/Summary:
Universal Serial Bus (USB) is an easy way of interconnecting the devices. USB protocol is based on serial communication standard. The main features of USB are: It supports plug and play features. USB supports 3 data rates: Low speed (1.5Mbits/sec), Full speed (12 Mbits/sec) and High speed (480 Mbits/sec). It has 4 shielded wires. Two wires for data communication and two wires for power supply. The communication uses NRZI encoding. A Short circuit could occur between D+ and/or D- to the Vbus signal due to a faulty external connector. As a result of this large current will flow through the circuit and damage the device. Hence in this research work we designed a transceiver which can withstand these short circuit conditions and hence protect the device.
