Abstract/Summary:
This work concerns the optimization of energy consumption by using genetic algorithms in a hybrid fuel cell vehicle. The objective is to minimise hydrogen consumption while respecting the operating constraints of each components constituting the power unit. The method was applied to two kinds of hybrid source technologies. The first source is a fuel cell assisted by a battery and the second is a fuel cell supported by supercapacitors.;To evaluate the approach, three speed profiles were used. Next, the method was validated by comparing the results obtained by applying the genetic algorithms with those obtained by applying the FCS method. This comparison confirms that the proposed approach leads to a decrease in the quantity of hydrogen consumed.;Finally, a comparison of the results obtained from the two sources is presented, in order to analyse the impact of each technology on the hybrid fuel cell vehicle performance.;Key words. hybrid vehicle, fuel cell, genetic algorithms, energy optimization.
