This work presents a detailed analysis of a magnetocaloric pump for electronic cooling applications that runs with no moving mechanical parts and that uses ferrofluid (magnetic fluid) as the working fluid. Mn0.5Zn 0.5Fe2O4 based ferrofluid was synthesized and characterized to find their magnetic and fluid properties. Numerical simulations were done in order to predict the behavior of different configurations of magnets and to find the appropiate one for the advised application. Finally, a prototype is constructed and the behavior is compared with the results of numerical simulations.
