Abstract/Summary:
This thesis investigates a belt-driven integrated starter generator (B-ISG) system with two independent tensioners. It mainly focuses on the belt initial tension and the system stability, which are the two major challenges in a B-ISG system. A theoretical model of a B-ISG system with two independent tensioners is developed to help understand the static and dynamic behavior of the B-ISG system. The static and dynamic comparisons between a two-tensioner B-ISG system and a single tensioner B-ISG system are discussed with respect to the belt initial tension and the system stability. A parametric study is conducted to examine the influences of the system parameters on the belt initial tension and the system stability. The theoretical study indicates that the second tensioner of the two-tensioner B-ISG system greatly influences the dynamic behavior of the B-ISG system. Recommendations for fun study of B-ISG systems are proposed based on this research.
