Abstract/Summary:
We examine a certain geometric flow proposed by B List having connections with general relativity. The fixed points of this flow, hereafter List flow, solve the static Einstein equations in dimension n ≥ 3 for a particular choice of constant appearing in the evolution equation. We keep the constant arbitrary, allowing us to investigate also the two dimensional case. Restricting our attention to rotationally symmetric, asymptotically flat initial data admitting no minimal hypersphere, we find the flow to be immortal provided a single regularity condition holds for the scalar field at the origin. This regularity condition is shown to hold at least in two dimensions.
