Abstract/Summary:
The existing hydro-kinetics turbines have evolved from designs of Darrieus wind turbines and propellers. Considering the pros and cons in the existing designs, the platform has been set for the new hydrokinetic turbine design. The 3D CAD model for the turbine with three different possible blades has been designed. The blades are designed to be flexible in nature for the safe passage of the fish here by insuring safety of aquatic habitat. The flow simulation is used to find the torque acting on the body and pressure distribution on the blades. The structural analysis determines the possible blade deformation caused by fluid force. The designs have been checked for maximum achievable power and efficiency for different flow velocities. Also, care has been taken to measure the absence of cavitation. The aim of the analysis is to find the best possible blade design.
