A Linear Programming model has been developed for optimal allocation and management of petroleum waste in Nova Scotia, Canada. The model is applied to petroleum waste management and pollution mitigation planning. The model ensures optimal allocation of the input waste and resources to waste treatment and disposal for minimizing the total cost of transportation, treatment, and disposal.;The model is implemented in a commercial linear programming software packages. The solution obtained is useful for decision makers to gain an insight regarding the tradeoffs between synergistic environmental and economic criteria.;The optimization results indicate that petroleum waste management is mainly controlled by input volume/tonnage of the waste, sales price of recovered oil, transportation and processing cost.;It was found that petroleum waste management companies should adopt an optimal route for both the input waste and resources. This route should be composed of definite system component for disposing petroleum waste without compromising the cost, budget and environment constraints. The developed mathematical model is capable to predict an optimum cost and maximum efficiency for any petroleum waste treatment and management system.
