Abstract/Summary:
Ceramic based restorations such as veneers and porcelain fused to metal (PFM) fixed partial dentures and crowns are used commonly in dentistry. Frequently, porcelain fractures with or without metal exposure lead to improper restorations functionally and or esthetically and require repair.; The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of pressable glass ceramic as repair material for porcelain fracture by testing its shear bond strength to Metal, Porcelain and Metal-Porcelain junctional substrata with different surface treatments.; This study indicated that pressable glass ceramics are an alternative to resin fillings for porcelain fracture repair, based on the satisfactory bond strength achieved for glass ceramic applied to M, P, and M-P substrata. Clinical studies are still needed to evaluate the clinical outcome. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)...
