| The main objective of this study was to determine the production cost for alternative organic growing media used in the production of tropical ornamentals produced in pots and compare costs with the growing media used at this moment. In this study we worked with three varieties of ornamentals of economic interest to the farmers as: Euphorbia pulcherrima, Catharanthus roseus y Gerbera jamesonii.;The alternate growing media proposed was a mixture of municipal composted biosolids and peat moss.;It was discovered that Euphorbia pulcherrima was more tolerant to a higher proportion of biosolids utilized, because it develop excellent against the control plants. Although, the Catharanthus roseus and Gerbera jamesonii were less tolerant to higher concentrations of biosolids in the growing media. (Abstract shortened by UMI.). |
