Abstract/Summary:
The focus of this thesis is on the production of graphene sheets and nanoribbons via the chemical exfoliation method. Graphite is put into solution with a solvent and surfactant and sonicated to produce graphene sheets and nanoribbons. Graphene is deposited on a Si/SiO2 substrate and imaged with an optical microscope and transmission electron microscope. Devices are fabricated by creating electrodes using electron beam lithography and metal deposition. Electrical transport properties of graphene sheets and nanoribbons are examined through the use of a probe station and a semiconductor characterization system. These transport properties are reported in this thesis.
