Abstract/Summary:
I have mainly worked on two areas during my graduate study in Dr. Ayusman Sen's group. One is about transition metal catalyzed biomass conversion to biofuels and valuable chemicals. The other is about transition metal catalyzed polymer synthesis. Chapter 1 talks about one-step catalytic transformation of biomass to 2,5-dimethyltetrahydrofuran for liquid transportation fuels. Chapter 2 discusses about direct conversion of biomass-derived carbohydrates to valuable chemicals. Chapter 3 focuses on phosphine-sulfonate based neutral nickel catalysts for ethene polymerization. And finally Chapter 4 is regards to phosphine-sulfonate Ni complex with high selectivity between polymerization of ethene and copolymerization of CO and ethylene.
