The main objective of this study is to model and optimize the thermal performances of an unglazed transpired solar collector (UTC). Given the import ant number of parameters intervening in the UTC systems, the implementation of a full experimental design at three levels was necessary. In order to achieve this objective, a UTC prototype has been built in the Centre of thermal technology (CTT) at Ecole de technologies superieure. Experimental measurements of temperature, radiation and flow rates are achieved, according to the strategy defined by the experimental design.;Key words: UTC, efficiency, effectiveness, experimental plan, statistical optimization.;At first, the experimental design methodology allowed to determine the influence of four parameters (the collector coating, the mass flow of air through the perforations, the holes diameter and the radiation intensity) on thermal performances (efficiency and effectiveness) of the UTCs. In second time, an analytical model of polynomial type is established, which explains 94.6 % of the variability of the output results. Later, this model is adjusted and validated by a variance and a residual analysis. Finally, the model developed is optimized with a graphics representation using curves of response surfaces. An optimum combination of four parameters is obtained, for a collector efficiency included between 80 % and 90 %.
