Abstract/Summary:
Microarray analysis has become one of the most widely used technologies for life science research even in relatively small laboratories. However, the storage, annotation, analysis and exchange of large amount of microarray data are still a big challenge for the life scientists. The BASE was designed as a comprehensive, web-based solution. However, the sequential loading of all pieces of information required by MIAME is a very time consuming process. Furthermore, the current version of BASE does not fully support the native Affymetrix data format. Finally, exporting an experiment from a local installation of BASE to ArrayExpress is a very complex task that currently requires a substantial amount of time.; KUTE-BASE is based on the publicly released BASE, but provides several additional capabilities including: (1) a more flexible data upload system for all bio-materials and protocols involved in a given experiment, (2) full support for Affymetrix data, and (3) easier data exchanges with public microarray repositories.
