A Study On Measurement Of The Consumption Potential Of Chinese Urban Residents After Building A Moderately Prosperous Society In All Respects

The consumption demand of residents is of great significance to the development of national economy and is one of the main driving forces to promote the economic growth of the country.The National Government Work Report 2020 points out that China’s economic operation in 2019 is generally stable,and consumption continues to play a major pull role.China’s huge consumer market and consumption potential is an important engine to stimulate economic growth.With the increase of per capita disposable income,the consumption demand of urban residents has gradually shifted from the basic material fields such as food and clothing to the spiritual civilization with higher quality.Therefore,it is crucial to investigate the evolution trend of consumption structure and consumption potential of urban residents.Based on basis,this paper uses the income and consumption data of urban residents in our country,summarizes the research experience of many scholars in related fields,and calculates the consumption structure and consumption potential of urban residents in our country at the present stage in combination with various methods and multiple angles.First of all,using the macro-economic data to analyze the current situation of income and consumption level of urban residents in China,it is found that the living standard of urban residents in China has reached the stage of abundance,and the main source of income is wage income and operating income.And then,using the extended linear expenditure model(ELES)to calculate all kinds of marginal consumption tendency of urban residents,the absolute consumption potential of urban residents is analyzed.The results show that the absolute consumption potential of urban residents’ development and enjoyment type is increasing year by year,the consumption structure is gradually optimized,and the absolute consumption potential of residential category is the highest among the eight categories of consumption;Then the spatial panel model is used to analyze the difference of the relative consumption potential between the urban residents in different regions,and there are regional differences in the consumption potential of urban residents in China,and the central and western regions still need to rely on the income distribution of the government and other departments to effectively release the consumption potential of urban residents;Finally,using the panel quantile regression model to explore the impact of the income class on the consumption potential,the results show that increasing the income of the middle and upper income groups can increase the overall consumption potential,and increasing the income of the residents of the middle and lower classes,middle and higher classes can effectively release the consumption potential of food and medical and health care,and increase the low income level The income of the residents can better release the consumption potential of residential and household equipment and services,and increase the income of the middle and higher level groups can more effectively release the consumption potential of education,culture and entertainment.
