Tunisia has a long history of olive cultivation, with 55 million bare olive trees.Tunisia's olive oil is pure in color, with a wide variety of varieties and unique taste. It is well-sold in the international market. In the traditional market, the main customers come from the European Community countries, especially France and Italy(50% of the imports of Tunisian olive oil from these two countries),as well as Libya,Jordan,Syria, the League of Arab States,Russia and the United States. But in the Chinese market,it has not been well known by the vast number of Chinese consumers.China's olive oil consumption potential is tremendous. The imported olive oil in the market mainly comes from Spain and Italy. So in this case, can Tunisian olive oil products have a certain international competitiveness in the Chinese market so that they can occupy the Chinese market?Firstly, this paper analyses the market environment of China, and finds that China has a good political, economic, cultural and technological environment, and the market demand of Chinese olive oil is relatively strong.China has a population of 1.3billion,which is the second largest country in the world in GDP.Tunisian olive oil has a huge development space in the Chinese market.Tunisian olive oil industry wants to further develop in the Chinese market. It is necessary to make clear whether Tunisian olive oil has international competitiveness in the Chinese market.First of all,we need to analyze the development status of olive oil industry in China. At present,it is still at an initial stage, and olive oil products are heavily dependent on imports. In order to analyze the international competitiveness of Tunisia's olive oil industry, three indicators, namely, export market share, trade specialization coefficient and indicative comparative advantage index, were selected to calculate. It was found that the export market share of Tunisia's olive oil industrywas increasing, and the trade specialization coefficient of Tunisia's olive oil industry averaged 0.95.Above all,the demonstrative comparative advantage has remained above 2.5,which shows that Tunisia olive oil industry has a strong international competitiveness, and is still in the enhancement stage. Then the index is innovated and modified to measure Tunisian olive oil industry's international competitiveness in the Chinese market. It is found that Tunisian olive oil occupies more than 70% of China's export market in recent years, with a trade specialization coefficient of 0.99 and an indicative comparative advantage index of more than 4.Tunisian olive oil has a strong international competitiveness in the Chinese market.
