Abstract/Summary:
In the new economic era,competition among enterprises has been intensified.In order to maintain their competitive advantage,companies actively look for a change.The organizational form of the project system was adopted by many companies.So how to improve project performance has become a topic of common concern for enterprises.Due to the temporary and uncertain characteristics of the project,conflicts are unavoidable during the project work.Inevitable conflicts are important factors affecting performance,and their specific impact on performance depends on the way in which conflicts are managed.As the project leader,the project manager manages conflicts with project members,establishes high-quality relationships with members,and plays a constructive role in conflicts,playing a key role in project success.Based on the theory of conflict management and the theory of leader member exchange,this study uses the lead-member exchange relationship as an intermediary to study the different conflict handling methods of project managers on the project performance mechanism.Analysing the relationship between conflict handling methods,leader-member exchange relationships,and project performance by using empirical statistical analysis methods.Research indicates: First,there is a correlation between the project manager’s conflict handling methods and project performance.Different conflict management methods have different effects on project performance.Secondly,the conflict of cooperation and compromise methods have a significant positive correlation with project performance;the conflict of compliance,competition,and avoidance methods have a significant negative correlation with project performance.Thirdly,the leader-member exchange relationship has a mediating role between the project manager’s conflict management method and project performance.Given the research on project managers’ conflict handling methods,leader-member exchange relationships and project performance.This paper enriches the conflict management theory and constructs the mechanism of conflict handling methods on project performance.It provides a new perspective for companies to carry out project work,improve project performance,handle conflicts in project cooperation correctly,and play a leading role in project managers.
