The Research On Sourcing Management Of Wal-Mart Global Sourcing Center

In 2019,Wal-Mart Inc.has ranked No.1 in the list of the world’s top 500 companies for 6 consecutive years.As of 2018,Wal-Mart Inc.has more than 11,000 stores in 27 countries;it has already established Wal-Mart Global Sourcing Center in Chinaand has been implementing large-scale procurement and low-cost control strategies in China.However,in recent years,the labor costs and raw materials of China’s manufacturing industry have shown an obvious upward trend,as well as the various anti-dumping duties imposed on Chinese exportproducts to abroad,Wal-Mart Global Sourcing Center with traditional sourcing management is facing more and more challenges.Therefore,in order to maintain the competitive advantage of low-cost sourcing,it’s necessary for Wal-Mart Global Sourcing Center to adjust and optimize its sourcing management.This paper focuses on the sourcing management of Wal-Mart Global Sourcing Center as the research object.Based on the status of supply chain management format and related theories,this paper analyzes the current situation and existing problems of the sourcing management for Wal-Mart Global Sourcing Center,and then it proposes the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions.At the beginning,it introduces the theoretical knowledge of procurement management,as well as the details ofsourcingbusiness process and operation status of the Wal-Mart Global Sourcing Center.According to the analysis of its current situation,the paper points out the problems in the sourcing process,the sourcing strategy and supplier management.First,because Wal-Mart Global Sourcing Center must strictly control the sourcing process of large-volume purchases,also the long cycle of sourcing will affect the sourcing efficiency.Therefore,optimizing the sourcing process is one of the methods to improve sourcing efficiency;second,the various factors will impact the low-cost sourcing and the consumer requirements for product value is higher expectation,so the sourcing strategies also need to be adjusted in a timely manner;third,Wal-Mart Global Sourcing Center has alwaysmaintained the good partnership with suppliers and it can properly assist suppliers to improve theiroverall comprehensive capacityso that suppliers can provide better services.Finally,the corresponding optimization strategies are proposed for three aspects of sourcing process,sourcing strategy and supplier management.How to speed up the sourcing process is more efficiency,also it can adjust the sourcing strategy and train the excellence suppliers.By optimizing the sourcing management of Wal-Mart Global Sourcing Center,it will helpful for the further improvement of its sourcing management level,as well as it can improve the sourcing efficiency and maintain the low-cost so that it will continue to maintain the core competitiveness in the retail industry.
