Research On The Development Strategy Of The Trade Logistics Park In The Xiangtan Yuetang Economic Development Zone

As the economy continues to grow and the structural transformation keeps upgrading,logistics has grown into a pillar industry of the national economy and an integral part of the modern service industry.This burgeoning industry has also given birth to trade and logistics parks,which have attracted increasingly more attention and developed by leaps and bounds.Xiangtan Yuetang Economic Development Zone established in 2013 is a provincial-level industrial park.Based on the industrial base and resource endowment of the locality,the government of Yuetang District has been committed to the development of modern trade and logistics,aiming to build a modern trade and logistics hub in Central and South China.It endeavors to build the park into a highland of industrial upgrading and a nexus of modern trade and logistics via intensive management,regional cooperation,networking and informationization.The recent years have witnessed great progress of the park.For instance,it has reaped many laurels like "National Outstanding Logistics Park" and "Excellent Logistics Park of Hunan Province".However,it is also facing a raft of problems which limit its development.This thesis uses domestic and international theories and practices to explore the development of the Trade and Logistics Park of Yuetang Economic Development and construct an evaluation system invovling infrustracture construction,operational situation and enterprises.From January to July in Year 2019,this research conducted interviews with government,Park mangement staff and company owner having business in this park,exploring the obstacles and problems they have in managing this Park or running their businesses.From analyzing its constructions,operation conditions,business categories,information system and infrustraction construction,this research digged into the problems and potential causes.At last suggestions are proposed based on its problems.In this research,the major problems facing the park are as follows:Incomplete industrial systems,backward productive service industry,inadequate park infrastructure and underdeveloped informationization.Based on the theories and the practices of both Chinese and foreign trade and logistics parks,as well as the reality of the zone,this paper offers the following specific suggestions to boost the development of the Trade and Logistics Park of Yuetang Economic Development and such parks in other regions.For instance,better overall planning of the park and the zone to improve its overall competitiveness,integration of industrial clusters,extension of trade and logistics,smart trade and logistics,stronger infrastructure and optimize the government services.
