In the report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China(CPC),General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly stressed that "innovation is the first driving force for development and the strategic support for building a modern economic system".As one of the most important innovations of the country,enterprise innovation capability is of great strategic significance for enhancing its core competitiveness,promoting national economic growth and improving overall national strength.As the nationally-supported technology-based enterprises,China’s high-tech enterprises are the key to adjusting the domestic industrial structure,enhancing the national scientific competitiveness and comprehensive innovation ability.The essence of innovation-driven is talent-driven.With the emergence of the mass entrepreneurship and innovation,the important position and role of entrepreneurs in innovation and entrepreneurship are increasingly prominent.Enterprise innovation activities are inseparable from entrepreneurs’ support and strategic layout.As a key element of corporate governance and management,chairmen have a significant influence on the company’s future strategic development planning and business decisions.Educational experience has a profound impact on the decision-making style and thinking of business managers.Therefore,this article attempts to take the high-tech enterprise executives as the entry point to explore whether the characteristics of executive education background will have an impact on enterprise innovation activities and specifically analyze how to influence the innovation performance of enterprises.Based on the above analysis,this paper selects China’s high-tech enterprises from2014 to 2017 as the research object,studies on the influence of executive education characteristics on corporate innovation activities through empirical research.After synthesizing the results of previous research,this paper selects the number of invention patent applications to measure the innovation performance of enterprises and uses R&D capital investment intensity to measure corporate R&D investment of high-tech enterprises.The empirical results show:(1)The chairman with high educational background has asignificant positive impact on R&D investment and innovation performance of enterprises,low educational background has a significant inhibitory effect on enterprise innovation activities.(2)Technology-oriented professional chairman has a significant positive impact on enterprise R&D investment and innovation performance.It shows that technology executives can promote enterprise innovation by utilizing their own technological advantages.(3)The chairman’s overseas study experience has no significant influence on the enterprise corporate innovation activities.Finally,based on the research conclusions of this paper and combined with the current national conditions in China,the author tries to put forward some policy suggestions to enhance the independent research and development capabilities of China’s high-tech enterprises,and promote the optimization and upgrading of national high-tech industries from two aspects of government and enterprise. |
