Abstract/Summary:
Since the reform and opening up of China, people’s pursuit of quality of life has changed a lot, from the pursuit of quality of life to the pursuit of multi-level,all-round quality of life.Improving people’s quality of life is not only an important issue for the "people-oriented" scientific development concept, but also one of the most important goals of building a well-off society. As a resource-based city,Yichun is facing challenges such as population shrinkage and economic slowdown due to resource depletion and policy. To ease economic pressure and attract population, urban development is mostly concentrated on land expansion, economic and industrial transformation, but not on quality of life. Therefore,it is important to investigate the quality of life in this area.Through the combing of previous studies and the availability of data, this paper selects 21 relevant indicators from four aspects to evaluate objective quality of life. The next part is to extract more than 50,000 microblog text data, and conduct subjective quality of life through sentiment analysis. The main contents of the research are as follows: Firstly, the objective life quality and subjective quality of life of residents in Yichun City were evaluated by means of mean square error decision analysis and sentiment analysis.Secondly, analyze the spatial and temporal changes of residents’ subjective and objective quality of life with methods of the trend classification method, coefficient of variation and trend surface analysis. Finally, the relationship between urban contraction and the subjective and objective quality of life of residents is determined according to the method of gray correlation, independent sample T test and correlation analysis. The urban contraction situation gives the development strategy and planning method to improve the quality of life of the remaining residents. The main body of this paper consists of six parts:The first part: This part aims to review the rise of the study of residents’ quality of life in the context of foreign shrinking cities, which is important for this study. The significance of the research is explained and the full-text logical framework is formulated according to the research topic from the aspects of how to expand the theoretical depth and practical application. The second part: In this part, defining and classifying the concept of urban shrinkage and the quality of life of residents.During many years’ research of urban shrinkage,it is pointed out that the most intuitive and representative representation of urban shrinkage is population change. The quality of life is subdivided into the objective quality of life of residents and the subjective quality of life of residents, which enhances the research level of this article. The systematic review of urban shrinkage and quality of life domestic and abroad is carried out,and the most important, literature on the relationship between urban shrinkage and quality of life was reviewed, laying a solid foundation for research. The third part: After making initial analysis of the urban shrinkage characteristics of fifteen municipal districts in Yichun City of the study area, other areas are experiencing urban shrinkage expect Yichun district. The methods of quantitative assessment, spatial and temporal characteristics analysis and influencing factors analysis of residents’ subjective and objective quality of life are introduced in detail, and the data sources are also displayed. The fourth part: This part is focused on the evaluation of the objective quality of life of residents in the fifteen municipal districts of Yichun City from 2001 to 2016.It is divided into different regional types according to the results of objective quality of life.Four time points 2001,2006,2011 and 2016 are selected to analyze their spatial characteristics. The spatial characteristic is “High in central,Low in north and south – east and west”.The influencing factors are analyzed by grey correlation degree and multiple linear regression. It is found that there are differences in different regions and different influencing factors in different time periods. Finally, comparing the objective quality of life in Yichun District and other districts,it is found that the objective quality of life in Yichun District is much higher than that in the shrinking districts.Subsequently, the T-test is used to confirm that urban shrinkage can affect the objective quality of life of residents significantly. The fifth part: After extracting the Microblog text data, using sentiment analysis to assess the subjective life of residents in each district in 2012-2016.I find that it is mainly divided into two types: rising, then stabilizing and decreasing and then stabilizing. In terms of spatial characteristics, spatial changes do not show a certain trend, but show different spatial differentiation in different years.Through the semantic network analysis, the connectivity between the surrounding words and the central words is determined, and the influencing factors are mainly the health level, family relationship and self-value realization.Meanwhile,it was found that the subjective quality of life in Yichun District was not significantly higher than that in other shrinking districts. The T-test confirmed that urban shrinkage could not significantly affect the subjective quality of life of residents. Finally,I found that subjective quality of life and objective quality of life have no relationship. The sixth part: Making suggestions for improving the quality of life of shrinking cities from the aspects of advocating the concept of “smart shrinkage”,and then emphasizing the importance of coordinated development, improving urban vitality, improving environmental quality, and paying attention to residents’ health protection in improving the quality of life in shrinking cities.
