The Impact Of Technological Innovation On The Service Exports Sophistication

After the technological revolution and major adjustments in the global industrial structure,the world economy,which was originally based on work,began to slowly tilt toward the service economy.The field of service trade in international competition has gradually become the focus,and the development of service trade has become a new driving force for trade competition among countries.Although China's service trade started relatively late,it has developed very rapidly and has joined the competition in the international market.With rapid growth,China's total service trade ranks in the forefront of the world,but at the same time,the deficit is serious,and the structure of service export is unreasonable,especially in the field of high value-added services.This has made China's service export technology level in a backward position for a long time.In order to deeply study the technical level of China's service exports and improve it.This study starts with the service export sophistication,in order to take appropriate measures to enhance the competitiveness of service exports.The research on this issue has great meaning both in theory and reality in the depth of development of China's international trade.This study determines its key content on the basis of collecting and reading a lot of literature: on the one hand,the study uses service export sophistication to measure the technical level of a country's service exports.And in this paper,the 2000-2013 multinational panel data is used to calculate it.On the other hand,the study divide technological innovation into innovative capital investment,innovative human investment and innovation results,and study their impact on service export sophistication separately.Then,due to the differences in service trade between countries with different economic income levels,we have compared the differences in the of impact of technological innovation on service export sophistication of developed and developing countries.First,the study reviews the literature on technology innovation and service export sophistication.At present,the research on the influencing factors of service export sophistication is relatively weak,and the literature on the sophistication of service export is lacking.Therefore,this paper sorts out the literature on technological innovation,service export sophistication and the relationship between technological innovation and service export sophistication.Secondly,on the basis of dividing technological innovation into innovation capital investment,innovative human investment and innovation results,the development status of these three aspects is analyzed separately.After that,we calculate service export sophistication with the method of Hausmann(2007),and then analysis of the development of service export sophistication from different layers.Overall,service export sophistication index at the industry level or at the national level,in addition to the volatility decline in 2008,has shown an upward trend in other years.From the perspective of service sophistication at the industry level,service export sophistication of the financial industry has always been the first in the service industry and far ahead of other service industries.From the perspective of service sophistication at the national level,service export sophistication of developed countries is generally higher than service export sophistication of developing countries.At the same time,China's service export sophistication is in the middle of the BRICS countries,but it is at the lowest level compared with developed countries.Finally,this study analyzes the impact of technological innovation on the sophistication of service exports,and then conducts empirical analysis.We select the cross-country panel data of the sample interval from 2000 to 2013.Through the measurement and analysis of these data,an appropriate model was adopted to conduct empirical tests on the samples.The effects of technological innovation represented by innovative capital investment,innovative human investment and innovation output on service export sophistication are studied,and the differences in impacts are further analyzed according to the sample data of developed and developing countries divided by economic development level.Then use the technical innovation to explain the variable lag in the first phase to do the robustness test.The conclusion is that technological innovation,whether it is innovative capital investment,innovative human investment or innovation results,has a significant positive effect on service export sophistication and can improve service export sophistication.And the impact on developed countries is greater than that of developing countries.
