With the development of Mobile Information Technology(hereinafter referred to as MIT),the number of mobile network users has seen an explosive growth,which also makes MIT highly valued by enterprises and makes MIT be widely used in the work of employees in order to bring some positive impacts on employee performance and organization.Although MIT can improve organizational performance,how MIT can improve organizational performance remains to be further explored.This makes us think about the mechanism of the business value of MIT to maximize the value of it.Based on the perspective of IT affordance,this research studies the business value generated by the use of MIT in working scenarios,and focuses on the internal mechanism of its value.In view of the research problems,this research builds a research framework based on Information Technology Business Value Theory,Affordance Theory,Work Characteristics Theory and Empowerment Theory,establishes the relationship model between MIT affordance and employee performance,and takes work resources and psychological empowerment as the intermediary to conduct a comprehensive analysis of its action process.This study takes employees of enterprises that use MIT at work as the research object,and conducts a survey on employees in different industries.Data were collected through questionnaires,and the theoretical models and hypotheses were tested mainly with Smart PLS3.0.Data analysis shows that Ubiquity,as the main affordance of MIT in the work situation,has a positive impact on employee performance,while work resources and psychological empowerment play a chain mediating role in this process.The innovation of this research is as follows: firstly,it takes the lead in the conceptual model construction and empirical research on the affordance of MIT in work situation,focusing on the actualization and effects of the affordance,which enriches the empirical research on the affordance of MIT.Secondly,the paper studies the use of MIT and its value from a new perspective(the perspective of affordance)and a research level(the level of individual employees),which emphasizes the importance of individual employees.Finally,based on the Empowerment Theory,this paper discusses the mechanism of the business value of MIT in the work situation from the perspective of work resources.While enriching the research on the intrinsic motivation of JD-R model,it also focuses on the incentive process of the positive effects of MIT.The research on the MIT affordance is still in its infancy,and the research on the actualization and effects of the MIT affordance in work situation is a "black box" that needs to be opened urgently.Therefore,this study has both theoretical significance and practical value.The theoretical significance of this study is as follows :(1)the theory of MIT affordance has been developed;(2)enrich the research on the commercial value of MIT and its mechanism;(3)understand the relationship between MIT and empowerment from the perspective of internal mechanism,and promote the development of Empowerment Theory in IS field.In terms of practice,this study not only reminds managers to attach importance to the role of employees,but also provides guidance for them to improve the intrinsic motivation and performance of employees from the aspect of work characteristics.
