Research On The Impact Of Leadership Competencies On Project Success(The Case Of Kathmandu,Nepal)

Various literatures declare the importance of leadership competencies responsible for implementation of successful projects.The role of Project leaders is one of the main factors which contributes rather significantly to project success.The purpose of this paper is to investigate the importance of Project leaders' role and attitude towards the projects and their leadership competencies towards succeeding projects.The study describes the leaders' responsibility towards project success and ultimate dedication to the project.Emotional,Intellectual and Managerial Competence(EQ,IQ,and MQ)three leadership dimensions have been used to examine the study.The study is contemplated as the vivid cause and effect study.The study used quantitative survey method.The data was collected from Projects leaders as well as other members of project based organizations of Kathmandu through questionnaire.Collected primary data were coded and analyzed by using SPSS 20 software.The multiple regressions were used to test the hypothesis.The results show that the relationship between leadership competencies are very strong.And the relationship between leader's leadership competencies and project success is also extremely strong,which further explains the impact of leadership competencies on success of the projects.The results show that IQ has the highest impact followed by EQ,while MQ has insignificant impact on project success.Nepal's project management industry could regulate the process of executing relative methods in improving human resource.Moreover,other recommendations associated to improvements of project management are proposed such as paying more attention to the competencies that the leaders are lacking off for the better outcomes.
