Research On Industrial Concept Of Yung Wing's "The Machine For Making Machines"

"The machine for making machines" is the "machine for manufacturing machines" in the modern sense,and the necessary tool for processing the basic parts of the machine.In the phase of modern industrial start-up,Yung Wing proposed the concept of "the most important new theory of industrial construction" in the latter Qing Dynasty,"delineated the blueprint for the development of China's machinery industry system" —the establishment of the machinery factory,introduce into the first batch of " the machine for making machines " from the foreign countries—the value and significance of machine tools for the establishment of Jiangnan Manufacturing Bureau and even the development of modern industry.This article takes "the machine for making machines" and Yung Wing as the main line.According to Chinese and foreign historical documents,archives,predecessors research results,field investigations and oral interviews,we start with the following questions: 1?What is the process before and after Yung Wing proposed the concept of "the machine for making machines " ? What are the relevant details of the funds of the machine introduced by Yung Wing and the production company? Where is the machine application of Jiangnan Manufacturing Bureau;3? On the basis of the above research,why is it difficult to realize this concept in the latter Qing Dynasty? How to start the cultivation of the "the man for making machines" ? Based on the above questions,the main body of the paper is divided into the following four chapters:In the first chapter,through the discussion of the concept of "the machine for making machines ",the necessity and rationality of the introduction,the background of the origin of the machinery industry in the late Qing Dynasty is briefly introduced.Secondly,on the one hand,how the educational experience shaped the scientific background of Yung Wing,on the other hand,how the social interaction affected the vision of business and machinery industry,the background of scientific and mechanical industry of Yung Wing is sorted out and verified;The second chapter is based on the statistics of the term " the machine for making machines " in the related literature of the Westernization Group of the latter Qing Dynasty,and discusses the dissemination and understanding of the Westernization Group on the term "the machine for making machines ",then introduce the author of the concept— Yung Wing.Secondly,the following four stages: entering the political arena,meeting in An Qing,entrusting the heavy responsibility,the process of bought machines in US.Finally,from the three levels of content,region and product,we try our best to restore the "real face" of the concept of " the machine for making machines ";The third chapter,through the combination of various relevant historical materials of China and the United States,tries to verify and explain the funds in the process of introducing "the machine for making machines",the production company-Putnam Machine Shop and the application in the Jiangnan Manufacturing Bureau after the introduction;The fourth chapter,on the basis of the first three chapters,first explains why the concept of "the machine for making machines" proposed by Yung Wing is difficult to realize in the latter Qing Dynasty.From three aspects: concept itself,the production and management of enterprises,the political and social background.Secondly,it sorts out the development process of the concept of "the man for making machines" that comes with the concept of " the machine for making machines ".
