| After the 2008 economic crisis,China’s listed companies experienced a long period of recovery.With the national policy changes and strong support,China’s A-share listed companies had an unprecedented development.However,with the rapid development of science and technology,the rapid changes in information,listed companies need more or less to change.How to further enhance the business performance in the new era is also an important issue for listed companies’ executives to face.The transformation of the traditional industry requires the executive team which has the right to make the decision combined the current market situation with their own specific circumstances to make the most appropriate decision.And the rise of emerging industries also need to meet the new requirements of the executive team.In order to improve business performance,the role of executive team is critical.So how do their background characteristics affect business performance?Is it possible to find out how these background features specifically affect business performance?In order to solve the above problems,this paper chooses the management data of 282 listed companies of A shares of Shanghai Stock Exchange from 2013 to 2015 and analyzes them from the background information of executive team,including the natural attributes of age and gender and the characteristics of social attributes like political,professional,educational background and duration of tenure.After the data is collated through the STATA software,the background characteristics of the executives of listed companies can be learnt that how they make an impact on the performance of enterprises to do empirical research.In the study of the sample classification,we divided them into traditional industries and emerging industries to measure and compare them.In this study,it is found that the selected natural attributes and social background characteristics have significant influence on the performance of enterprises.Specifically,the older executives can use their experience to make the right decisions for the firm to improve the performance of the firm;The higher the proportion of women inthe seniorexecutive team,the more thrycan improve the performance of the firm;A wide range of professional background of the executive team can help companies solve more complex problems and improve business performance;Relying on their own strength to participate in market competition and havingless political background of executives,listed companies performance can be better.Finally,based on the research results from the perspective of our government and listed companies,listed companies,especially the listed companies in traditional industries,we provided some valuable suggestions about how to improve the performance of senior management team to improve business performance,including that the governmenthas to improve the proportion of women in the workplace,provide a variety of skills training,andmake more strengthen on market supervision and background;enterprises will have to boldly appoint female executives,while improving the proportion of middle-aged senior officials,make team assessment and timely adjustment,give chance to those who are gifted and have a diverse background with real strength.Company has to improve business performance by enhancing their own competitiveness. |
