Energy is the important support for the stable and healthy development of national economy. In recent years, with the emergence of a series of problems such as global resource depletion and energy poverty, scholars have paid more and more attention to energy crisis and energy security. There is always a contradiction between supply and demand of energy in China. Therefore, increasing energy supply, maintaining energy security, protecting ecological environment and in turn promoting sustainable economic and social development have become China's vital development strategy. As a result,China proposes to establish green,low-carbon and circular economy system,as well as advocate the green and low-carbon lifestyle. With the development of rural tourism which based on resources and environment, rural energy consumption pattern is also increasingly changing.Households' energy literacy also greatly affects the energy consumption and sustainable development of rural tourism.Consequently, the rapid development of rural tourism also requires low-carbon transition.Taking these into account, this study discusses households' energy literacy from the perspective of knowledge, affect and behavior in the process of rural tourism development, thus providing a new perspective for low-carbon research and sustainable development of rural tourism. This study explores the energy literacy of tourism households in rural tourist destinations through questionnaire surveys and home visits. Our conclusions include:(1)overall,energy literacy of rural tourism households is above the medium level, and rural tourism households show positive performance in three dimensions.Rural tourism households perform generally in the knowledge dimension of energy literacy, and they have certain energy knowledge. However, the knowledge is scattered, superficial and unsystematic. Therefore, they need to expand and deepen the breadth and depth of energy knowledge.Rural tourism households show prominentperformance in the affect dimension of energy literacy, they have positive emotional tendency and correct value judgment, which reflects the value judgment of rural tourism households on the use of energy, especially the saving-energy problem from internal and external causes.Rural tourism households show decent performance in the behavioral dimension of energy literacy.Generally, the energy-use behavior of rural tourism households is positive, and they need to be guided to improve the active participation of energy-saving behavior.(2)Housing areas, housing construction time, family sizes, education degree,family-income monthly, tourism time, and and family-tourism-income mouthly, have an indistinctive influence on the difference of energy literacy;some of these factors have a significant influence on individual dependent variables of literacy.(3)Energy literacy is shaped by internal factors(motivation, willingness, etc.)and external factors(economic situation, cultural environment,etc.).The improvement of energy literacy requires the joint efforts of all parties, including focusing on energy education, enhancing energy conservation publicity, optimizing energy-use structure and improving system and mechanism. In this study, the selection and setting of energy literacy evaluation indicators, literacy analysis and improvement measures can provide reference for further research on low-carbon tourism in the future. This study not only expands the research scope of rural tourism, especially rural low-carbon tourism, but also promotes the sustainable development capability of rural tourism. The research on energy literacy of rural tourism households has a positive practical role in promoting energy saving and emission reduction, leading rural energy consumption towards low-carbon mode, and realizing sustainable development in rural tourist destinations.
