The competition in the 21 st century is the competition of science and technology and talents.The role of technological innovation in promoting the development of international trade cannot be underestimated.In export trade,the greater the proportion of technology-intensive products in industrial manufactured goods,the more competitive in international trade.Affected by the 2008 financial crisis,global import demand was weak.The export trade volume of South Korea continued to decline in 2014-2016,from US$572.665 billion in 2014 to US$495.426 billion in 2016.And it should not be overlooked that due to technical trade barriers in developed countries and lack of the core technologies owned by South Korea,most of Korea's technology-intensive products are sold to developing countries with lower technological levels,which reflects that Korean technology is lower than developed countries such as the US and Japan.High investment,low output,and only imitating non-innovation will inevitably limit South Korea's technological development,which in turn will affect the export of Korean technologyintensive products.Based on the theory of previous studies,this paper defines the meaning and measurement standards of technological innovation and technology-intensive products.The information from the Korea Science and Technology Program Evaluation Institute,the Korea Statistics Bureau and the UN Comtrade database is used as a data source to study the development of Korean science and technology policy,the development status of technological innovation,and changes in product exports.At the same time,with the help of charts and data,the status of Korean technology innovation investment and product export trends are analyzed,and the problems in related aspects are analyzed and summarized.Then,the export value of SITC 7 in industrial manufactured products is selected as the explanatory variable,and R&D expenditure and R&D personnel input is used as a measure of technological innovation,using panel data for OLS regression,studying the extent of the impact of two measures of technological innovation on SITC 7export changes,identifying factors affecting the export of technology-intensive products in Korea,and making recommendations.This paper studies the factors affecting the export of technology-intensive productsin Korea from the perspective of empirical analysis: firstly,using 41 countries(regions)data,the impact of two indicators of technological innovation on the export of SITC 7products is examined as a whole.It has a positive effect on the export of SITC 7,and the number of R&D personnel plays a much larger role than R&D expenditure.Since most of the world's key technologies and core equipment are still in the hands of developed countries,and South Korea's technology level is far from the gap,the regression results of the sample groups of the country group indicate that technological innovation plays a much higher role in the export of technology-intensive products from South Korea to developing countries than in developed countries.It also reflects that although South Korea has invested heavily in technological innovation,the rate of innovation conversion is low,far less than that of developed countries.From the empirical results of the industry group sample,the three major industries have the highest investment in office technology innovation,and the contribution rate is the lowest.Finally,based on the theoretical and empirical analysis results,summarize the problems and inspirations in the process of Korean technology development.
